Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Vicario Critics 'Not Real Fans'
Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Tension on Frank
Spurs fans who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were told later "they can't be true Tottenham supporters" by boss Thomas Frank.
Tottenham let in two goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th top-flight at home loss of 2025.
But the primary topic of discussion was the visitors' second score when Vicario gave away the ball well beyond his box.
He ventured out to handle a long ball and carried the ball near the touchline.
However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian spun and tried to clear, but slipped as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.
The forward passed the ball off to Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, who curled a strike into the net from the sideline measured at thirty-six point six yards.
Moments later when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Spurs supporters booed him.
The team were booed off at half-time, with the club 2-0 down, and again at full-time.
A particular of those booing sessions truly irritated Frank.
"It came to my attention a few of our fans reportedly booed the incident and jeered after, which, in my opinion is totally unjustifiable," the Danish manager commented regarding the fans' reaction to his shot-stopper.
"[They] can't be real Tottenham supporters that act that way. Alright booing after the game, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."
Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a fourth-minute lead before Harry Wilson's strike – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period performance.
Former Premier League keeper Hart stated that the next score was "completely avoidable".
"I do understand the fans' disappointment," Hart continued. "I know the part the keeper is performing. He is a excellent team player, he is a true leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be assessed by your actions.
"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the decisive goal."
'It is In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Keeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Match
Italian international Vicario is in his third season with Tottenham.
He said following the game that he had to take the feedback.
"The second score was a error of my own, I accept responsibility for that," he commented.
"My aim was to kick the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. That made an even bigger mountain to climb."
He said being booed "comes with the game".
"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he added. "We can't be influenced by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It's on us to stay increasingly composed, to concentrate on ourselves. The team is missing in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."
'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'
Despite the keeper's error, it was far from an simple goal for Harry Wilson to convert.
Actually it was the second longest-range Premier League score of the campaign – after Adams' 43.3 yard strike for Bournemouth against the Black Cats, which incidentally also occurred on Saturday.
The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty goal to target.
Ten seconds elapsed between Vicario exiting of his area and Wilson striking – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.
"It seemed to me like the goalkeeper was out of the box for a long time," he said.
"It amazed me none of the defenders returned to the line. When not one of them covered the goal, my eyes lit up a bit.
"[Destiny] Udogie fell too, which allowed me a little extra opportunity. After that it was solely about trying to make the right contact and place it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."
'During in a Bad Spell, All Seems to Go Against You'
Jeering Whilst We Are Still Playing Is Totally Unjustifiable - Frank
Although the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an overall poor performance for Tottenham to continue their home woes.
This was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the Premier League, a shared team statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.
They still have home games against the manager's old side the Bees and champions the Reds to play prior to the end of the year.
Just a single of those wins have come since Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou in the summer.
"When you're down 2-0 following six minutes, there is a mountain to overcome," stated Frank.
"During in a bad spell, everything seems to work against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.
"The outcome puts us in a place where we have suffered an additional match. Each fixture has a unique story, today we were defeated in the early stages.
"We just need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can use to develop."
Tottenham have lost 4 consecutive home capital clashes for the initial time in the top division.
Furthermore they are averaging 9.5 shots and 3.2 efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on file in a single season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Former Fulham midfielder Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He must take the criticism," Murphy said. "He has taken a prestigious role at a huge football club with enormous expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that comes with that.
"The performances at their stadium have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
