The Streaming Platform is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The newest Far Cry title that players explored was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and came out during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in chaos and madness with the same excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed tales. It’s no surprise that FX's new order for a Far Cry limited-run show brought on board two producers whose creations have embodied all of those things.
About the Series
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by having a fresh backdrop and group of personalities in each season.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as showrunners on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and wildly entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new comprehensive agreement with the producer.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX family constantly supports me with their ongoing trust and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology show. Every instalment is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can change from one instalment to the next, while always examining the essence of society through this intricate and unpredictable lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and bring our mutual bold, daring style to the television.”
A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
