The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Song

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series from the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It showcases our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several agonizing backstories for characters including the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

The intro uses "Welcome to Wildemount", an exceptional composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second release released by Critical Role Productions LLC's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.

Personally, The Mighty Nein's intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "It's Your Turn", composed by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Including singing from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I kept it on my device. This track that excites you before you dive into an episode of adventurous fun.

The show's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords for me. It's a grand piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its tone is somewhat mismatched.

Of course, the creators has stated that the series will have a few changes and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro seems to be one of them.

The Mighty Nein will be released on Prime Video from Nov. 19. For those eager before that, or want a head start to get to know the characters of the second series, the actual play are available on the audio platform and the video site.
