The network's Top New Show of 2025 Earns a Significant Extension for Two More Seasons.

Last October, the late-night programming block welcomed back its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the channel unveiled a fresh animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, evoking a animated take of a contemplative talk show. In an era often defined by cynicism, this show's earnestness found an audience and helped it become a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series follows three respectful teenage brothers whose defining trait is their profound affection for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and advocated for its peculiarly charming appeal.

"All of you showed up for this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. Viewers found something deeply soothing about following this endearing family navigate their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running cynical streak. He traced this trend to the rise of certain blockbuster franchises.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to catalyze that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences a little more time to experience the heartfelt moments of the beloved Campbell clan.

The first season's conclusion of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The entire series is ready to watch on HBO Max.
