Salah Offers Statement to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones

The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the team in the wake of the controversy from his public comments.

What Happened

Salah was left out from a European match after criticising the club and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had deteriorated.

“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”

The manager has previously declined to reveal on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.

Moving Forward

The player stated that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “Nothing about him changed, he was smiling and everybody was exactly the same with him,” Jones added.

Jones also implied that a teammate fighting for a place is a positive trait. “It's clear there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “Yet, should someone be happy to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”

Team Form

The team's performance have stayed unbeaten in the period after the situation. The player is convinced the forward's comments were not intended to harm the team.

“In moments of frustration, it’s always been from a desire to win,” Jones concluded. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, getting results and securing victories.”
