Pat Bamford Joins Sheffield United After Leading Derogatory Chants About Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with the Championship side just half a year following starting derogatory taunts targeting their manager, Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has put pen to paper on a agreement with the Championship strugglers until January. His seven-year career at Elland Road was ended through agreement in August.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead abusive songs about Wilder amid Leeds' success festivities in April. Currently, the one-cap England player will feature for Wilder as Sheffield United's boss aims to rescue the team he loves away from the bottom places.

Past Conflict Between the Striker & Wilder

The pair had a past prior to Leeds moved up back to the top flight the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager described the forward as a "muppet" back when the roles were reversed during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United secured automatic promotion whereas Leeds missed out in the playoffs.

Reconciliation and Moving Forward

Everything seems has been put behind them with United, the league's lowest scorers, urgently requiring of a boost in attack and Bamford aiming to resurrect his career.

The Wilder chant went viral this spring. An apologetic Patrick along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Patrick recently and I’ve no issue at all with it. I’m not sure regarding the language from a fellow professional! However I valued and respected him calling me.

“We spent 20 minutes and similarly I spoke to Daniel Farke as well and had a half-hour chat with him and he's a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we would give it and take it and that’s an integral part of the game at every level, even on a Sunday morning. I have absolutely no issue. I am cool with it and I said that to Pat.”

Latest Career Challenges

The forward made 18 games with Leeds United in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Middlesbrough player has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
