Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
