Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Get Together for Palestine Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The project seeks to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to support Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, holiday tracks are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we merit as a people.”
Track's Background and Contributing Musicians
The song was recorded following a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the piece was omitted from the lengthy event due to time constraints.
The impressive roster of artists featured on Lullaby includes a selection of prominent voices from the scene. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a significant sum for humanitarian aid.
Creation and Launch
Lullaby was produced by a team of talented individuals. The song features a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the initiative have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to projects in Palestine through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Obviously, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The single 'Lullaby' is scheduled for release on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from the 19th of December.
